Three days ago I got my sore throat. However with bad sore throat I could still talk and sing very loud. Yesterday it was so bad by the time I went to bed you could hear the change in the voice. Today I started to cough. chesty cough, not often but strong cough and I couldn't talk now. I don't want to see a doctor because they are going to tell me the same thing like andy said, rest sleep drink water. And there is no way I will like to wait in the medical center for advice like that.....damn i might have to cancel all students tomorrow.....how long is this going to take to recover ah....i feel very good and healthy though. But this losing voice is costing me money. This is the tool that i live for!!

My dear, I had that too before from too much use of the voice in teachings. I know it does not sound too exciting and attractive to you, BUT give your voice a nice break is the way to recovery. Don't use it anymore or it might turn worse and you want to avoid that. I found 金桔 mix with warm water really soothe the throat. Frequent drinkings of warm water really helps. Avoid Chilli, hot/cold water and shut up...^ ^ I am sorry you still get this advice from ME if not from the Dr..... Recover soon~
Susie, you just have to let it go and refrain from using your voice until it recovers. Sometimes a few days, sometimes may be up to a few weeks. But if it really hurts, ask Andy to check your throat for any sign of tonsillitis or pharyngitis, especially if you start to have fever or big lumps on your neck below the jaw line. You might need some medication in that case. Perhaps it's a good time to find a way to teach students but without using your voice? It'll be a challenge but I'm sure you'll find a way! Get well soon!
